Thai education minister Varakorn Samakoses will banned all schools across the country for training students aged under 15 years old for professional boxing. The youngest age found was seven years old with weight of 24 kilogrammes while girls were also more involve in boxing training as the fight will cost between 50-600 baht (1.43 dollars to 17.14 dollars) He said underaged children, who start fighting since they were too young, will face nerve problems in long-term periode. "Brain, eyesights and memorgy will be effected in long-term if they fight too young," Varakorn said. The 1999 boxing bill does not set the minimum age of boxers because Thailand counts Thai boxing is national art. "We are concern that students aged between 6-12 years old and weight less than 100 pounds will box without enough protection like headguards," Varakorn was quoted as saying. He said he will asked the amendment of the bill to protect young children involve with boxing otherwise the number will sharply grown. Khunying Kasama Varavarn, secretary-general for the Office of the Basic Education Commission (BEC), said the BEC does not support children box for living but support if they will be trained as part of exercise. |
