The rift between the International Amateur Boxing Association (AIBA) and Thailand's boxing chief General Taweep Jantararoj seems to grow as the Thai general accused that AIBA’s officials “play dumb” when dealing with his case, while the association has reportedly forbidden its members from getting involved with General Taweep’s ASEAN association.

AIBA reportedly sent letters to its members to forbid them from participating with the activities of the Federation of ASEAN Amateur Boxing, which is chaired General Taweep.

In response, General Taweep said his Southeast Asian association was not affiliated with AIBA to begin with, and the organization was founded only to handle regional events such as the SEA Games. He said the organization would continue to operate despite AIBA’s dissatisfaction as long as the members are willing to cooperate. Otherwise, it may be dissolved.

“I do not understand what AIBA did to me in some cases, like the disciplinary letter that the association sent to my old address used three years ago before I retired. When I received the letter, the time period for appealing the case almost expired. I do not know if AIBA’s officials are playing dumb or what,” said the Thai boxing chief.

General Taweep has also dismissed the argument that he might be disqualified from the president position of the Amateur Boxing Association of Thailand (ABAT) as the Sport Authority of Thailand Act of 1985 requires the individual in his position to also hold a committee position in an international sport federation. General Taweep is now suspended from AIBA’s board.

“Actually, I do not have to response to this, because I still have a position in such federation. It is true that I was suspended from AIBA after the rift, but it is still in the court process and I have not been discharged. So, I do not need the ASEAN’s title in order to keep the ABAT’s position,” he said.

ไอบาทำแสบ เสธ.วีปยันไม่หวั่นต่อมวยเอเซีย

จาก กรณีที่มีข่าวว่า สหพันธ์มวยสากลสมัครเล่นนานาชาติ (ไอบา) หวังถอนรากถอนโคน พลเอกทวีป จันทรโรจน์ นายกสมาคมมวยสากลสมัครเล่นแห่งประเทศไทย หลังจากมีปัญหากันจนไอบาจนถุกสั่งพักงานไปนั้น

โดยล่าสุดทาง ไอบา ส่งหนังสือเวียนให้สมาชิกห้ามยุ่งเกี่ยวกับ สหพันธ์มวยสากลสมัครเล่นอาเซียน ซึ่งพลเอกทวีป เป็นประธานอยู่นั้นว่าไม่ได้การรับรองจากไอบาแต่อย่างใด

เกี่ยวกับเรื่องนี้ "เสธ.วีป" พลเอกทวีป กล่าวว่า ตนได้รับหนังสือจากไอบาแล้วแต่เป็นเรื่องสหพันธ์เอเชีย ที่ไอบาต้องการจะรวบอำนาจให้เหลือองค์กรมวยเพียงสถาบันเดียว แต่อย่างไรก็ตาม สหพันธ์มวยสากลสมัครเล่นอาเซียนนั้น ก็ไม่ได้ขึ้นตรงกับไอบาอยู่แล้ว จึงไม่มีหนังสือเกี่ยวกับเรื่องนี้ หากไอบาเกิดไม่พอใจและหากทุกคนเห็นด้วยก็ดำเนินการต่อ เพราะสหพันธ์นี้ก่อตั้งเพื่องานในระดับภูมิภาค อย่างในกีฬาซีเกมส์ เท่านั้น แต่หากส่วนใหญ่ไม่เห็นด้วยก็ยกเลิกกันไป

"ผมเองไม่เข้าใจสิ่งที่ไอบาทำกับผมในบางกรณี เพราะหนังสือซึ่งแจ้งเรื่องวินัยของไอบา ส่งมาที่ที่อยู่เก่าเมื่อ 3 ปีที่แล้ว ก่อนผมจะเกษียณเสียอีก กว่าจะได้รับหนังสือก็แทบจะหมดเวลาอุทธรณ์อยู่แล้ว ไม่รู้ว่าเจ้าหน้าที่ของเขาแกล้งโง่หรืออย่างไร"

สำหรับตำแหน่งนายกสมาคมของเสธ.วีป ซึ่งอาจได้รับผลกระทบ เนื่องจากตามพ.ร.บ.กกท.2528 มาตรา 57 นายกสมาคมที่รับตำแหน่งเกิน 2 สมัย จะต้องเป็นกรรมการสหพันธ์กีฬานานาชาติอยู่ด้วย แต่ล่าสุดถูกไอบาสั่งพักงาน ด้านเสธ.วีป กล่าวว่า

"จริงๆ ผมจะไม่ตอบก็ได้ แต่ผมยังมีตำแหน่งในสหพันธ์แน่นอน ที่ผมมีปัญหากับไอบานั้น ผมถูกพักงานก็จริง แต่ยังต้องสู้กันตามกฎหมาย และผมไม่ได้ถูกปลด จึงไม่จำเป็นต้องอ้างอิงถึงตำแหน่งประธานสหพันธ์อาเซียนเพื่อให้ได้นั่ง ตำแหน่งนายกแต่อย่างใด"
