Muaythai to compete in Korea for the world champion

SEAGAMES gold medalists and 2007 World Championship muaythai team will compete in TAFISA GAMES - a festival to promote sport, culture, health and good life of citizens in the world. Muaythai is one of 20 kinds of sport that is added in this competition.

Privy Councilor Gen. Pichit Kullawanit and ‘Big Whiang’ Gen. Chettha Thanajaro, Dr. Sakchai Tapsuwan gathered to make an announcement of Thai team’s readiness. They will send both Thai art – culture that consist of three sets of music, flute and drum and ancient muaythai to show and complete against muaythai members from 75 countries in Puchan World Sport for All Games 2008 in South Korea on 26 September – 2 October 2008.

For the part of muaythai competition, the manager Mr. Khajorn Praosi said that there are 11 boxers- six of male boxer and four of female boxer, from Thai team including the famous boxer Binlha Meenayothin and Jomyutyhing Kiet Nawa. Gen. Chettha said that it is the first time that muaythai will become a new sport in international association which is fully supported by IIC. Moreover, muaythai is expected to be officially added in the Olympic Games in the future.
