The 9th Muay Poon Sua tournament will start onOctober 4 with sixteen top muaythai fighters competing for handsome prize money,say organizers.

The “9th Muay Poon Sua Muaythai Pantae”tournament was officially announced in a press conference on September 18 bypromoter Shun Kietpet, Wanchai Damrongsucharit, an executive of SCG Cementwhich is the event sponsor, and Vice Chief of Channel Seven Stadium SompongAtchanukroah.

Sixteen muaythai fighters and eight substitutes will beselected from around the country to compete in the tournament, starting with anopening match on Saturday October 4, while the other matches will be held onSundays of the following weeks. The bouts will be broadcasted by Channel Seven Networkfrom 1.50-3.50 p.m. each week.

The winner of the tournament will receive 300,000 Baht inaddition to the title belt and the cup, while the second, third, and fourthwinners would receive 150,000, 100,000, and 70,000 Baht respectively.Additional prizes will be awarded each week to the fighters who produce themost exciting match or demonstrate the best skills.

Promoter Shun, who decided not to send his own boxers tocompete in the event, said the tournament would have the “most transparency”,while he requested all fighters to fight with honesty.

He said the boxer who committed a fraud would be considereddestroying the muaythai sport and would be rejected by the society as well asdamaging the reputation of his own family.
