It was not easy to become the top muaythai promoter, not even for an individual as talented and bright as Songchai Rattanasuban. He had to go through many career hardships before his series of Suek Onesongchai event became widely accepted as the best of all muaythai events.

But what is even harder for Songchai is to maintain his leading position. Like it or not, the muaythai promoter is essentially an entrepreneur, and bookkeeping as well as personnel management are crucial for his survival.

Songchai’s staff team, in particular, is seeing some changes as some long-time members are beginning to leave the team. Some have gone to the rival promoters. Others have simply gone.

Long Ubon is now working for Prayoon Nanla of Supanburi, while Wan Bangkhean has become a promoter specialized in regional matches. Noi Bangpong, too, is no long an assistant to Songchai. He has started a new career as a muaythai tele-analyst.

The latest figure who has disappeared from Songchai’s team is commentator Pa Hinkong. The fans have been wondering why Pa has not showed up on his radio show on AM 597.

Some say Pa is taking a vacation as he is on the recovery from a larynx disorder. Others think he was affected by the recent heated squabble among Songchai’s team members on the leave of a particular fighter.

Pa is definitely one of the beloved figures in muaythai, but the fans do not know whether he is still loved by Songchai.
