Light welterweight boxer Manus Boonjumnong, believing he was all ready and prepared for the 2008 Olympic Games, was as cheerful as a bird when he flew from the training facility in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, to Beijing, China, where games will be held. Manus’s joy, however, ended right after the immigration process when he found that the airline has lost his suitcases. Manus was able to get the Thai officials to send him training outfits and boxing uniforms, but sadly not the underwear.

Chief of Lumpini Boxing Stadium Major General Tera Kripanon was especially interested in the kneeing technique of fighter Puengnoi Petsupapan. He even asked the fighter to show him the strike when he was visiting the Petsupapan camp. The Lumpini boss promised a 10,000 Baht prize for Puengnoi should he be able to knock out his opponent with the knee in the upcoming match on Friday. But Puengnoi wonders if the prize could be upped by another 10,000 Baht. That would indeed be a great incentive.

Although the ticket for the “Suek Daorung Chucharoen Charumuang” event at the Ratchadamnern Stadium was sold at 240 apiece, promoter “Ang Mor” Chucharoen Rawee-aramwong was quite happy with the revenue as more than 200 foreign tourists appeared at the event filling in the V.I.P. seats. With more than a million Baht earning and exciting fights in his latest event, Chucharoen is rightfully proud of himself to become one of the leading promoters of Ratchadamnern.

Everyone asked fighter Rattanapol Sor Worapin to not mention anything related to the politics when he defended his champion title at a match in the south. As such a fanatical supporter of former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra, Rattanapol can draw the hostile anti-Thaksin protesters by his mere presence. The fighter has to cancel his fight once as he claimed he had to see the dentist. But some insiders revealed that the so-called dentist would be more accurately defined as the “Alliance”.
