Boxing questions and answers by Sodsoi Saisangwian
Written by Varut, Mr.Sroi, Editor: Wissawa

The following questions for the “Fan Pantae Keela Muay” (Pure-Breed Fans of Boxing Sport) talk show on FM99 and column in Khao Sod newspaper are from Sunthorn Surabanjerdporn from Ladkrabang, Bangkok.

Q: In my opinion, the brothers Rattanapol and Rattanachai Sor Worapin should quit boxing.

A: You would make an aggressive fighter type of boxer to dare to make such judgment. It is true the performances of the brothers have deteriorated recently, but if you spend some time pondering about the situation, perhaps you would change your mind after realizing that the boxers have to trade their sweat and blood for the earnings to feed their wives and children. Boxing is a legitimate career after all.

Q: How likely is Fahpetchnoi Kratingdang Gym going to fight WBC flyweight Daisuke Naito? And how likely is it for him to win?

A: Promoter Wirat Wachirarattanawong’s Fahpetchnoi has a good chance to get the cake as Naito’s deal with potential challenger Koki Kameda may fail to realize. The bout of Naito and Kameda would have been a superfight for Japan. For the second question, promoter Wirat is not afraid of losing the match. He is more concerned of getting the chance to challenge the title holder.

Q: Is the match of Manny Pacquiao and Oscar De La Hoya a fake fight? I think it is ridiculous for a boxer of a heavier weight class to fight someone much lighter. Even if he wins, there is nothing to gain. What is great about that?

A: De La Hoya will move down from the 154-pound weight class to fight in the 147-pound class with Pacquiao who is currently in the 130-pound class. Each will get at least 500 million Baht, excluding the earnings from the pay per view. As Floyd Mayweather has retired, Miguel Cotto has lost and fallen from grace, and Antonio Margario has not reached the high tier, who else do you think can attract the spectators as much as Pacquiao in the match with De La Hoya?

Q: Will there be a third muay thai sequel of Chatchainoi Garden Seaview and Pakorn Sakyothin?

A: In their first match, Chatchainoi’s win resulted in a punishment to the judges. The second match ended up very much the same with split decision and crowds booing on the judges for 20 minutes. With such differing opinions, promoter Songchai Rattanasuban would probably ask if “you want to watch the trilogy?” Anyway, as an amuse bouche planned by Songchai for the fans, Pakorn will fight “Amphetamine Mahahin” Thongchai Tor Silachai on November 6.
