Winyu Paradorn Gym has lost her WBC Atomweight champion to Japanese challenger and old-time rival Momo Koseki on the August 11 match in Tokyo, Japan.

Koseki beat Winyu with a technical knockout in the second round with, according to the Thai promoter, what appeared to be a head clash in the match at the famous Korakuen Hall of Tokyo.

The promoter, Songchai Rattanasuban, said he had examined the tape record of the fight and found that Winyu was hit around her nose and mouth with Koseki’s head. He said he had the right to request for a rematch.

Winyu’s manager Priyakorn Rattanasuban, who is also Songchai’s daughter, has filed a protest to the World Boxing Council saying that Koseki intentionally hit Winyu twice with a head butt, resulting in the Thai fighter receiving a technical knockout.

Priyakorn confirmed there would be a rematch but Songchai said the arrangement for the rematch of the fighters in Thailand may be difficult due to lack of sponsors. 

Another of Songchai’s boxers, super flyweight Wandee Singwangcha, has also lost to Japanese opponent Takahisa Masuda in the same event.

Masuda started to utilize his longer arm to launch one-two punches to strike Wandee’s body in the second round, but Wandee was also able to hit a right punch on Masuda’s jaw at the end of the round.

In the third round, Masuda kept launching punch combinations while Wandee was not able to make aggressive moves. The Japanese boxer, however, avoided contacts in the fourth round while most of Wandee’s punches missed targets.

The Thai boxer became more aggressive on the fifth round but Masuda was also able to counter him with heavy punches. The two exchanged heavy strikes in the sixth round after some grappling. Masuda accidentally fell in the seventh round but was still able to counter Wandee’s attacks.

In the last three rounds, the Thai fighter tried more aggressive moves but was hit back by Masuda several times.

Masuda was declared the winner of the match by scores.
