Priyakorn files protest over Winyu match PDF Print E-mail

Manager Priyakorn Rattanasuban is filing a protest to the World Boxing Council (WBC) over the decision on the match of her boxer Winyu Paradorn Gym and Japanese opponent Momo Koseki, claiming the knockout was caused by Koseki’s head butt.

Priyakorn’s female boxer, Winyu, has lost her WBC Atomweight champion to challenger Koseki by a knockout in the August 11 match at Korakuen Hall, Tokyo, Japan.

After some furious fights, Winyu fell to the ground on the second round and was not able to hold herself up when the South Korean referee counted to ten.

Priyakorn, who cried after watching a slow replay of the match, believes Winyu was knocked by a head butt, not a fist strike. She filed a protest to the officials at the match who told her the decision was final as the referee had counted to ten and the match was already over.

The manager said she would submit the tape record of the match to the WBC who may order for a rematch if it agrees with her protest.

Another Thai boxer, former world champion Wandee Singwangcha, lost by scores to Japanese opponent Takahisa Masuda in the same event.
