| Kokiet plans match of Sod vs. Nishioka |

Promoter Kokiet Panichayarom says he plans to send Sod Poon-insee Gym to fight WBC “interim” super bantamweight champion Toshiaki Nishioka. Nishioka has just defeated Naphapol Kiatisakchokchai, another boxer of Kokiet’s, on Monday and claimed the WBC title. The World Boxing Organization has recently demoted Sod Poon-insee Gym, known internationally as Sod Looknongyangtoy, from the first to the fifth in the WBO ranking, probably as a penalty of Kokiet’s refusal to have Sod fight with WBO champion Joan Manuel. Kokiet believed the pay offered by Manuel’s promoter was too low. The Thai promoter has turned his attention to the WBC titles, but Naphapol’s recent defeat was a setback for him. Sod is scheduled to defend his Asia Pacific WBO title against challenger Donriel Marcos of the Philippines on Friday September 26 in Chomporn. The match will be broadcasted by Channel Seven network starting at 3.00 p.m. |
