Former boxing champion Khaosai Galaxy will train Denkaosan Kratingdaenggym for the title match with WBA flyweight Takefumi Sakata of Japan in December.

Khaosai, a boxing legend who held a WBA title for eight years before retiring, was recruited by Denkaosan’s manager Naris Singwangcha to become a trainer of the boxer for his expected match against Sakata on December 24 in Japan.

Denkaosan put Sakata down to the canvas for a count of eight in the WBA title match in November last year but the bout ended up a draw when the Thai broke his right thumb in the fourth round.

Khaosai, who is busy with his acting career, will begin his job as Denkaosan’s trainer after the bout of the boxer against Dennis Juntillano of the Philippines for the PABA light flyweight “interim” title on October 17. 

“Denkaosan is unable to produce a ‘golden moment’ which is the deadly following-up strike when the opponent was in a disadvantaged position. The skill is crucial for any boxer. His punching power and agility are already sufficient, but he still needs more training for better preparation. The binding of his hand is also a crucial part, as the binding was not proper when he fought with Sakata, resulting in the injuries of his right hand and wrist,” said Khaosai.

“From now on, he will have to be prepared for the bout, which I believe he definitely has the chance to win the world title. He will not be a mere challenger.”
