The Japan Boxing Commission (JBC) says it will ban Thai promoter “Ang Mor” Chucharoen Rawee-aramwong from matches in Japan for arranging a bout for retired Japanese champion Joichiro Tatsuyoshi.

Former WBC bantamweight champion Tatsuyoshi, 39, who was formally retired by the JBC in September, fought in a bout arranged by promoter Chucharoen against Palangchai Chuwattana at Ratchadamnern Stadium on Sunday despite requests from the JBC and WBC to have the fight cancelled. The JBC has barred fighters with age over 35 from bouts in Japan.

Although absent from the ring for more than five years, Tatsuyoshi won the bout with a technical knockout in the second round.

JBC General Secretary Tsuyoshi Yasukochi said the commission would ban match’s organizer Chucharoen indefinitely from bouts in Japan. The Thai promoter is responsible for about 70% of Thai boxers that have recently fought in Japan.

The JBC secretary also said Tatsuyoshi was lucky to not have injured himself in the match that could have become a tragedy.

Tatsuyoshi, who returned to Japan on Monday, told the reporters that he was excited with his win and would definitely return to fight in Thailand within 2-3 months in a match arranged by Chucharoen.

He said he wanted to reclaim his world championship title.
