Decha to defend IBF title from Jean Nicolas Weigel PDF Print E-mail
Written by Varust, Mr.Sroi, Editor: Wissawa
Thursday, 09 October 2008

IBF youth light welterweight champion Decha Kokietgym will defend his title from Jean Nicolas Weigel in France on November 15.

The match with French Weigel will be Decha’s third defending bout, said promoter Kokiet Panichayarom.

The Thai boxer gained the tile when he unexpectedly defeated another French boxer, Thomas Bastard, in the second round of a bout in France.

Decha is the oldest of 23-year-old triplets. He and his two brothers, Dechapol and Decho, started boxing in 2003 and rose in to the international ranks when they were still young.

Kokiet admitted part of the fame of the three brothers could be attributed to the fact that they are triplets.

The brothers fought in different weight classes, with Decha in the 140-pound class, Dechapol in the 115-pound class, and Decho in the 130-pound class.

However, Kokiet considers Decha having a disadvantage in his current weight class and plans to move the boxer to the 135-pound class after the match with Weigel.
