Veteran boxer Antonio Barrera confirmed to hang his gloves after the match against archrival Manny Pacquiao from the Philippines this Saturday. Marco Antonio Barrera, the super featherweight fighter from Mexico, revealed that no matter what result in the fight against Manny Pacquiao at the MGM Grande on Saturday, October 6 will be, it is certain that he will call it a day. Making debut in his professional career, the former super bantamweight, featherweight and super featherweight, 33, said, “I have been taking the sport for several years and it’s time I called it a day. “As for my preparation for the fight, I admit that I trained intensively, It’s totally different from what I had prepared for the match against Paquiao, which I lost to him in the 11th round in November in 2003. I think I had fully devoted myself to the fight like this.Paquiao said, “I knew that he is ready for the fight and he is a strong fighter. He trained hard, the same to me. I’m also an aspiration for millions of people in my homeland. I will shoulder such burden when I happen to get into the ring. In the previous fight, I just wonder if Barrera was at his peak or such a thing will happen this coming Saturday night.” Among the 63 fights, Barrera had 58 wins against five losses. He was widely known as he took on compatriot Eric Morales for three times and burst into his prominence after he fell down Prince Naseem Hamed from England at the MGM Grande Casino in Las Vegas in 2001.
