Thai boxers for the Olympic Games felt heartened after AIBA officially announced the list of 34 referees from several countries to judge and score boxing in the Olympic Games in Beijing, China during 9-24 August 2008. One of them is Mr. Artit Somchai, a professional referee from Thailand. He was very proud because it was his first chance to do his duty in the most important match. It's also the first time that AIBA selected the referees by itself instead of a representative come from each country like in the past.
 
About the selection of referees for the Olympic Games, AIBA selected referees from many referees who judged boxing in the World Championship in Chicago, USA, and the preliminaries phase of Olympic Games in several places. It was the first time that this system was used.  In the past, AIBA assigned some high quality countries to choose a referee to do his duty in Olympic Games. It was the best ability of Thai referee who shew his professional ability until he was selected finally.

Mr. Artit Somchai, the only referee from Thailand who get a chance to do his important duty in Beijing Games, said that he heard since the last month. But it's just a gossip and he had to take part in a seminar in China and take the last examination in President Cup in Taiwan. Then AIBA officially announced the list of referees.
 
He was very proud to do his duty as a referee in the Olympic Games because it was the most important match of Amateur boxing. Moreover, he was selected from his own ability. He must said thank you to General Taweep Jantararoj, the president of Amateur Boxing Association of Thailand, and Mr. Anan Onjan, the director of Amateur Boxing Association of Thailand's Referee, who sent his name to AIBA's selection.
 
Mr. Anan Onjan said that it is a good chance  for Thai referee. It's also increased a chance for Thai boxers to get success in their occupation. Thai referee will know the method to give score, how to punch for a score. Then Thai boxing team con adapt their style and practice follow the referee's decision.
