Thai boxer does well in Olympic qualification PDF Print E-mail

Manas Boonjamnong of Thailand kicked off his programme for the place in Olympic final well beating Jordanian by points.

Manas's jabs and easily footworks were enough to handed Thai fighter a victory over boxer from Jordan. He will next meet boxer from Terkministan.

He said he was quiet fit and confident to have his place in Beijing

The other two Thai boxers Worapot Phetkhum and Angkarn Chompoopuang will see Uzbekistan and Iranian boxers.

Thai boxer withdrew from Olympic qualification PDF Print E-mail

Thailand withdrawn one of its boxer from the Olympic qualification leg one helds in Bangkok.

The chairman of the Amateur Boxing Associaiton of Thailand, General Thaweep Chantaroj, said he had removed Suriya Prasarthinpimai from the first leg of Olympic qualification.

He said Suriya was not fit enough for this tournament.

Thaweep said he would consider replaced Suriya by Angkarn Chompoopeung if Angkarn can make his weight down to 75 kilogrammes.

“The Olympic qualification is tough tournament, if no one fits, it is difficult to win,” Thaweep said.

The association will reward 50,000 baht for Thai boxers who can reached final round which automatically qualify for Beijing Game.

Thai boxer defends his PABA title PDF Print E-mail

Poonsawat Kratingdang Gym defended his PABA title by defeating Filipino boxer.

The challenger was trying hard to sent Thai champion down but Poonsawat sent jabs and hooks, called bleeding from the Filipino and won to defend his title by points.

It was the first time that PABA use rule of 11 rounds and half a point when the boxers box.

Niwat Laosuwanwat, Poonsawat’s promoter, said this match was the last warm-up match by Poonsawat before he fight against his fellow, Somsak Singchatchawan,

The winner will gain ranked one in WBO Supperbantamweight who will also authometically fight against the champion, from Panama.

The challenging fight by Thai boxers delays PDF Print E-mail

Thai Pornsawan Kratingdang Gym’s challenge for the ABCO Strawweight with Filipino boxer has been postponed for almost a month.

Promoter Pramuk Rojchan said the fight was earlier set on 18 January, has been postponed to 14 Febuary.

He said the broadcast channel has asked to postpone the fight after the channel will be broadcast the anniversary of the Royal Thai Army.

Pramuk said the postpone will not effect anything. The place and time will remains and Thai boxer will have more time to train.

Thai boxers train hard for last four Olympic qualification places. PDF Print E-mail

Four Thai boxers have been train hard by their fellows in the hope to book the last four seats in the Olympic in Beijing.

They were Manas Boonjamnong, Suriya Prasarthinpimai, Angkarn Phuengchompoo and Vorapot Phetkhum.

General Thaweep Chantaroj, the chairman of Amateur Boxing Association of Thailand, said the first three boxers were training in Hanoi, Vietnam with the assistance from another boxers who already booked their places for Beijing while Vorapot was training in Thailand with the assistance for another boxers for training.

Thaweep said he was satisified with the latest performances by those boxers.

He said those four will definitely fit and ready for the qualification round in Bangkok during 23 January to 3 Febuary.

Thailand to spent 10 million baht to held Olympic qualification PDF Print E-mail

 Thailand will spent millions baht for hosting the Olympic qualification round which the kingdom confident to pick three golds in Beijing.

General Thaweep Chantaroj, the chairman of Amateur Boxing Association of Thailand, said the country will spent 10 million baht (300,000 dollars) in hosting the Olympic qualification during 24 January to 3 Febuary.

He said there are four Thai boxers who should qualify for Olympic including Voraphot Phetkhum, Manas Boonjamnong, Suriya Prasarthinpimai and Angkan Chompoopuang.

Philippines out from Olympic qualification round in Thailand PDF Print E-mail

 Philippines fails to play in the Olympic qualification round held in Thailand late this month.

General Thaweep Chantaroj, the chairman of Amateur Boxing Association of Thailand, said in there are 26 nations sent 164 boxers to fight in the Olympic qualificaion Asia Zone or Bangkok 2008 which will be held between 24 January to 3 Febuary. 

Thaweep said the organising commitee has cut Phillippines out of the tournament as Philippines failed to meet the dateline to sent entry form by name which set for 1 Janaury 2008. He said the decision had been made carefully and Thailand does not did it in the revenge for Philippines boycott during last month's Sea Games.

US promoter Don King denies to sent Alfaro's fighting tape PDF Print E-mail

Don King denied to sent a latest fighting of Nicaragua's Jose Alfaro to Thai boxer Prawet Victory Gym.

Attaporn Tangnusart, Prawet's manager, said he would bought a tape of Alfaro's latest fight from Nicaragua television after Don King denied to sent him the tape unless he pays for 5,000 dollars.

Meanwhile Alfaro had arrived Germany for training.

Thailand’s Sirimongkol Singwangcha defeated his Filipino opponent to win the vacant Super Lightweight title.

Sirimongkol, a boxer of Thailand’s famous Naris Singwangcha promotion, won unanimous over Arnel Pores of the Philippines.

Naris said his boxer will be name in WBA list after became PABA champion and would soon challenge with Briton Champion Gavin Rees.

WBA Light Weight ranked number one Prawet Victory Gym of Thailand spent days training hard to control his weight before championship fighting.

Prawet manager’s Attaporn Tangnusart said Prawet’s physical body was fit and firm after three days of arrival. He started to get use to with the freezing weather which dropped to -3 decree.

He said Prawet’s current fitness boots his confident that the Thai boxer will success in claming the vacant tile in the fight against Nicaragua’s Jose Alfaro on 29 December.
