The International Amateur Boxing Association (AIBA) has decided to lift its year-long ban on General Taweep Jantararoj, after its disciplinary committee ruled that the Thai amateur boxing chief did not commit wrongdoing when he criticized AIBA’s officials at the Beijing Games in 2008.

According to the earlier reports, General Taweep, who is the president of the Amateur Boxing Association of Thailand (ABAT) and an executive committee member of AIBA, earlier filed a petition to the Lausanne Civil Court when he was “suspended” from his post at AIBA, following his criticisms on the neutrality of the association’s judges and officials at the Beijing Games.

AIBA’s disciplinary committee recently ruled that General Taweep was not guilty in the defamation allegation, said the ABAT’s foreign affairs department on October 8. It also said AIBA has lifted the suspension on General Taweep.

The Thai chief said he is relieved to “finally receive justice”. He claimed that he never accused AIBA of fraud or corruption, but only “gave personal opinions to the Thai media” on AIBA issues.

He also said there is no trouble with the process of his court case in Switzerland. The court is scheduled to read its verdict in early October, according to the earlier reports.

"เสธ.ทวีป"ตีปีกหลังศาลไอบาพิจารณาว่าไม่ผิด

เมื่อ 8 ต.ค. ที่ห้องประชุมโรงแรมเฟิร์สต์ โฮเต็ล กรุงเทพฯ "เสธ.ทวีป"พลเอกทวีป จันทรโรจน์ นายกสมาคมมวยสากลสมัครเล่นแห่งประเทศไทย เป็นประธานการประชุมคณะกรรมการบริหารสมาคมมวยฯ มีสาระที่สำคัญได้แก่ ฝ่ายต่างประเทศแจ้งว่า คณะกรรมการฝ่ายกฎระเบียบวินัยของสหพันธ์มวยสากลสมัครเล่นนานาชาติ หรือไอบา ได้ตัดสินว่า "เสธ.ทวีป" ไม่มีความผิดตามข้อกล่าวหาว่าวิจารณ์ไอบาในทางเสียหาย จากการแข่งขันกีฬาโอลิมปิก 2008 "ปักกิ่งเกมส์" ที่กรุงปักกิ่ง ประเทศจีน เนื่องจากไม่มีหลักฐานอะไรชี้ว่า "เสธ.ทวีป" กระทำดังกล่าว พร้อมให้ยกเลิกการสั่งพักงาน "เสธ.ทวีป" จากตำแหน่งคณะกรรมการบริหารของไอบาตั้งแต่บัดนี้เป็นต้นไป

ด้าน "เสธ.ทวีป" เผยว่า ตนโล่งใจที่ในที่สุดก็ได้รับความเป็นธรรม เพราะได้ชี้แจงกับไอบา มาตลอดว่า ไม่เคยกล่าวหาว่า ไอบา มีการโกง หรือทุจริต เพียงแต่ให้ความเห็นเป็นการส่วนตัวกับสื่อมวลชนไทยด้วยกัน เมื่อถูกสั่งพักงานอย่างไม่เป็นธรรม จึงนำเรื่องขอความเป็นธรรมต่อศาลที่สวิตเซอร์แลนด์ และในที่สุดคณะกรรมการฝ่ายกฎระเบียบของไอบา ที่เปรียบเสมือนศาลของไอบา ก็ตัดสินแล้วว่าตนเองบริสุทธิ์ ส่วนการพิจารณาของศาลสวิตเซอร์แลนด์นั้น ไม่มีปัญหาอยู่แล้ว เพราะตนเป็นผู้เสียหาย และศาลก็รับฟ้อง ให้ความคุ้มครองมาตั้งแต่ต้น
