WBA flyweight champion Denkaosan Kaovichit of Thailand is apologixing for his performance in the recent fight against Japan’s Daiki Kameda that he said was not so “beautiful”.
Denkaosan told Khao Sod newspaper that he simply had no more energy by round 8 at his second title defense, which was held in Osaka on October 6.
“I am 33 now. I have fought at least a hundred muaythai bouts and more than 30 professional boxing matches, including numerous PABA title defenses. I have been in the sport for more than 20 years. At this age, if I don’t try to save energy and occasionally stall the fight by grappling, I would not survive,” said the Thai champion.
“I can honestly say that the outcome was not so beautiful, as you can see. So, I would have to apologize to my fans.”

The International Amateur Boxing Association (AIBA) has decided to lift its year-long ban on General Taweep Jantararoj, after its disciplinary committee ruled that the Thai amateur boxing chief did not commit wrongdoing when he criticized AIBA’s officials at the Beijing Games in 2008.
According to the earlier reports, General Taweep, who is the president of the Amateur Boxing Association of Thailand (ABAT) and an executive committee member of AIBA, earlier filed a petition to the Lausanne Civil Court when he was “suspended” from his post at AIBA, following his criticisms on the neutrality of the association’s judges and officials at the Beijing Games.
AIBA’s disciplinary committee recently ruled that General Taweep was not guilty in the defamation allegation, said the ABAT’s foreign affairs department on October 8. It also said AIBA has lifted the suspension on General Taweep.

Denkaosan Kaovichit would not be able to retain WBA flyweight his title long if he kept using the stalling strategy in the ring, says Banmuang newspaper columnist “Por Pan”.
The sportswriter is disappointed at the champion’s performance in his WBA title defense against Daiki Kameda on October 6, although Denkaosan was able to retain his title.
“If that was all Denkaosan could do, which is continuously grappling the opponent rather than actually trying to fight, he would not have future. He is in his 30s already and does not have the stamina to endure fight with a younger boxer, not to mention the power of his punch that is not enough to land a knockout,” said Por Pan.
