Winyu the second WBC Thai female champion
Winyu Paradorn Gym be second female world champion since 31 August 2007 after taking points victory over Momo Koseki (Japan) in Ayutthaya.
In the vacant WBC Atomweight (102 lbs.) championship, 24-year-old Winyu looked too excited and was constantly attacked by the aggressive Japanese in the early rounds.
However, the Thai used her footwork to step aside and punched well to the body.
Winyu won by scores of 96:94 96:94 and 96:95 which put her record at 4-1
Twenty-five year-old Koseki lost for the first time after three wins.
The Phitsanulok-born boxer is the second woman champion in Thailand after Samson Sor Siriporn took the WBC light-flyweight crown earlier this year.
“I was not at my best, especially my physical fitness” said Winyu.
“I have to strengthen my shoulder and to control my weight is also a big problem for this fight.”
Winyu added that she was too nervous at the beginning.
“To face the attack-minded boxer like Koseki is the most suitable for me,” She said.
The next match will be in Japan where she has to defend her belt within 90 days by the rules of WBC Championship.
“I do not know if I have to box this woman again,” said the newly crowned champion.
“Anyway, I am sure that I will be in better shape when the fight comes. To fight abroad is no problem for me.”
