The News - Box

Monday, 05 January 2009

Female WBC light flyweight champion Samson Sor Siriporn has returned to the ring after the short hiatus as she beat Spanish boxer Nuria Corvierina Merino at a temporary stadium in Chonburi, Thailand on December 28, preparing herself for a bout against “interim” champion Naomi Togashi of Japan.

The six-round match held in the night of December 28 at Chonburi was the first for Samson Sor Siriporn after a hiatus since the defending match in April. Samson has recently split from her previous promoter and has assumed a new alias “Samson Tor Buamad”.

In the first round of the fight against Merino, Samsan started an aggressive game but the Spanish pugilist held her defense well and was able to prevent the Thai from making her moves. The two traded strikes with Merino taking several heavy hits and Sansam a left hook to the face.

Somluck's TGN event moves to new stadium PDF Print E-mail
The News - Muaythai
Written by Varut, Editor: Wissawa
Saturday, 27 December 2008

The popular TGN muaythai event of Somluck Kamsing will no longer be held at the Imperial Ladprao shopping mall due to police’s tight control on gambling.

The latest TGN event last Wednesday was as quiet as a tragic play despite the large turnouts, as the police officers were present to monitor for any illegal gambling activities.

The TGN, a relatively small event organized by muaythai fighter and Olympic gold medalist boxer Somluck, have become unexpectedly popular and attracted the attentions of the muaythai fans as well as the wary executives of Lumpini Stadium, perhaps it was because the TGN event is held and broadcasted at the same time slot as a Lumpini event.
